Purpose and scope
Appeals
An appeal asks Certiqual to reconsider an assessment or recognition decision because the appellant believes the process, evidence or application of criteria was materially wrong.
01
Grounds and filing
The appeal must be submitted in writing within twenty working days of the decision notice. It must identify the decision, disputed elements, grounds, requested remedy and supporting evidence. Disagreement alone, without a reasoned ground, is insufficient.
02
Independent review
Admissibility is checked first. An authorised reviewer or panel not involved in the original audit, advisory work or decision examines the record, stated grounds and any permitted additional evidence. The original decision remains in force unless Certiqual expressly decides otherwise.
03
Time and possible outcomes
Receipt is normally acknowledged within five working days. Certiqual aims to complete an admissible appeal within thirty working days after the complete file is available. The decision may be confirmed, varied, withdrawn or returned for a defined reassessment. The final appeal outcome and reasons are recorded and communicated.
Mandatory controls
What the policy requires in operation
- Appeal reviewers must meet competence and conflict requirements.
- No person reviews their own assessment finding or decision.
- The appeal examines the challenged decision; it is not an unrestricted new application.
- Any resulting change to public status or scope is reflected in the register.
Public accountability
Status changes remain visible
Where this policy affects a public accreditation or Certi Mark, the live register reflects the current status, restrictions and material public history without disclosing protected evidence or personal data.
